Norwegian Jewel cruise to Tasmania (from Kara Lane)
I sailed on the Norwegian Jewel on the 13th Dec 7 night Voyage to Tasmania. The check in process was quick and within 20mins we were on the ship. We weren’t able to access our cabins for another few hours so we took that opportunity to start exploring the ship.
Having done a ship inspection and luncheon earlier in the year I was pleased to see the upgrades made as per her multi million dollar ship refurbishment before this cruise season. They did a great job and all passenger areas have been completely modernised with new carpets, paints, furnishings while still retaining the pops of bright colours she had before. It looks wonderful.
As an ex entertainer myself, what I look forward to when cruising is the entertainment and Norwegian does this so well. I was really impressed, there were 3 productions shows, all very different from each other and some of the best I have seen. It was so refreshing to see more modern entertainment which strayed away from the typical musical or Broadway reviews. The nightly singers in Magnums and the Bliss club lounge were wonderful as well and it was nice atmosphere over a post dinner cocktail.
The daily activities are full and fun. From Trivia to table tennis competitions or napkin folding to Karaoke there was always something on offer for everyone.
Norwegians point of different are their dining options. I really enjoyed the multiple complimentary restaurants on offer to choose from. You have Tsars which is a large dining room. Azures, a more intimate dining room. Chin Chin which offer Asian fusion or Osheehans which offer a pub style menu. You also have the Horizon the buffet style restaurant so you will never get board!
A very an enjoyable cruise.
