Rocky Mountaineer - Assurance Update

Rocky Mountaineer have been working hard to ensure they are ready to welcome you onboard their train when the season begins in April 2021. Their priority is that you experience the world-class Rocky Mountaineer journeys with the added assurance you need.

They want you to travel with absolute confidence, and this is why they have introduced enhanced flexibility with every booking. As well, they have updated their health and safety procedures to continue to be best-in-class and ensure your train journey is safe and comfortable. They look forward to welcoming you onboard for a journey of a lifetime.

Travel with Confidence: Enhanced Flexibility


  • Risk-free deposit, fully refundable, up to 60 days after booking.
  • Peace of mind travel with two free date changes, up to 60 days prior to travel.
  • Move your travel to any date, up to and including the 2023 season. Carry over your promotions too should you decide to change your dates.
  • Option to change the name(s) on your booking, up to 30 days prior to travel, should some of your party be unable to travel. One original name must remain on the booking.
  • Enhanced flexibility is available with all promotions with no restrictions.

If I have rebooked my travel from 2020 to 2021 on a promotion that stipulated an early payment date, are my outstanding funds due in January or 60 days from my travel?
All final payments will be due 60 days out from travel, including if you booked on a promotion. For 2020 rebookings that are complete and have outstanding funds to pay in January 2021, your payment terms will be adjusted so that final payment is due 60 days from the date of travel. If you have yet to rebook and pay in full, your final payment date will be 60 days before travel.

I have already paid $25 to secure my seats on promotion. Does enhanced flexibility apply to my booking?
If you have paid a $25 deposit to secure your booking for 2021, you will need to pay the 20% deposit by November 6, 2020, in order to continue with your booking. Should you choose not to pay the 20% deposit at that point, you will lose your secured booking. Once you pay the 20% deposit, the deposit will be refundable for up to 60 days and you will be eligible for all enhanced terms for 2021.

Does enhanced flexibility apply if I want to book during the 2022 season?
If you are looking to book to travel during the 2022 season, your booking will not be eligible for enhanced flexibility and our standard terms and conditions will apply.

If I change the dates of my booking, can my promotions be carried over as well?
Yes. If you make a date change on your booking, we will honour the original promotion you booked on.

If I need to change the date of my booking, do I need to book a new date right away?
If you are moving your travel date into 2022, you will need to select dates. If you choose to move into 2023, we will make a credit note on your booking for 2023.

If I booked with a $25 deposit and chose not to take the promotion due to the early payment date, can I apply the promotion now?
Yes, if you decided not to take a promotion when booking because of the early payment, please contact the sales centre to request the promotion be applied to your booking.

Rocky Mountaineer are committed to delivering their world-class service to you while ensuring your health and safety is their highest priority. As government guidelines and industry best practices evolve on the prevention of COVID-19 and other viruses and illnesses, they are updating their procedures to be best in class.

Before you Travel

  • Quick & Seamless Check In: Their online check-in process will get you onboard as quickly as possible
  • Pre-Travel Screening: They will ask you questions about your health and recent travels, and will take your temperature priot to boarding the train each day.


Transfers & Boarding

  • Safe Personal Space: They will meet all physical distancing guidelines at time of travel to ensure a safe personal space. Please pack and wear a protective face covering, such as a non-medical face mask, for when two- metre distance between your travel group and others is not possible. This includes transferring to and from the train.
  • Travel with the Same Group: You will be travelling with the same group of guests for all transfers to and from the train.
  • Seamless Boarding: You will board the train directly from the motorcoaches to make the boarding as seamless as possible.

  • Air Filtration System: There will be a constant intake and circulation of fresh air with filters that capture 99.9% of airborne particles.
  • Personal Hygiene Items: Soap, fresh water and hand sanitizer will be readily available in your coach.
  • Personal Use Items: They have replaced communal use items, such as condiments and menus, with personal use items.
  • Electrostatic Disinfectant Spray: At the start and end of each travel day, our train interiors will be thoroughly sanitized using an electrostatic disinfectant sprayer.

  • Through santisation: Your train seat and tray table will be sanitized at the start of each day. All high-touch and common areas will be disinfected throughout the day.

Please pack and wear a protective face covering, such as a non-medical face mask, for when two- metre distance between your travel group and others is not possible. This includes moving within the train to and from restrooms, dining room and on the outdoor viewing platform.

  • Their Partners: They want to ensure you receive the same high-level of service and commitment to safety throughout your journey as you do onboard our train. They will remain in close communication with their partners regarding any updates to their health and safety protocols as recommended guidelines evolve.
  • Hotels: All the third-party hotels we partner with have implemented enhanced health and safety procedures in line with recommended best practices. This includes stringent cleaning procedures, plexiglass barriers, physical distancing signage, and hand sanitizer stations
