Auckland

Kia Ora as they say in New Zealand.

Auckland, New Zealand’s largest metropolis, is a city unlike any other with an exhilarating mix of natural wonders and urban adventures. Auckland and its surrounding regions offer natural beauty, from the rugged beaches of the west coast to Auckland’s shimmering harbour, the area offers a vast array of outdoor as well as indoor adventures.

New Zealand is known as one of the adventure capitals of the world where bungee jumping was invented. Whilst in Auckland a visit to the iconic Sky Tower is a must where you can walk along its edge at 192 metres above ground level. Discover more than 1000 taonga (treasures) at the Auckland War Memorial Museum – the largest collection in New Zealand (and the world). From small precious artefacts to an original full-size marae (meeting house) and waka (canoe), this is a fascinating glimpse into early Māori culture.

Auckland’s landscape is dotted with 48 volcanic cones, all great spots for 360-degree views of Auckland. Mount Eden (Maungawhau) is the city’s highest natural point and its 50-metre deep crater and surrounds hold an important place in Maori history.

For the less adventure minded, there are plenty of boutique shops, restaurants and galleries to keep one occupied in central Auckland. Queen Street is well known for its numerous boutique shops and for restaurants you can’t go past Ponsonby Road with everything from street food to 5-star fine dining.

There are plenty of things to see and do close to Auckland as well including a visit to Waiheke Island also known as “the island of wine” with over 30 wineries as well as beautiful island beaches which is only a 45-minute ferry ride from downtown Auckland. Matakana is another area well worth visiting and only an hour's drive from Auckland. It’s beautiful beaches, boutique vineyards, local arts scene and picturesque village with a superb farmers' market make this region a divine destination. Pick up organic, seasonal produce or savour some fresh delicacies by the river's edge at the Matakana farmers market. For a day of exploring and wine tasting, indulge in a tour to one of the nearby wineries.
