Imagine a true holiday destination; a spectacular collection of Islands that can be enjoyed by flight or cruise, that offers an array of experiences for everyone regardless of if you are travelling as a family, on a honeymoon or a much-needed getaway. Aloha Hawaii!

O’ahu is best known for sunsets and cocktails over Waikiki beach, sunrise from the hike up Diamond Head, the shopping at Ala Mona or Waikele outlets, the history of Pearl Harbour and the Pipe Line on the North Shore. All easily accessible by public transport, a tour option or self drive in an open top convertible. Then there is the culinary side, anything at The Cheesecake Factory, infamous SPAM options that will have you wondering, the Dole Pineapple plantation, Roys, Dukes, La Mer, Morimoto – everyone has their favourites, and there is no shortage of options.

Maui is a great option for those not wanting the size of Oahu. Beaches and waterfront restaurants with a more small-town coastal feel will appeal. Most will do the scenic self-drive Road to Hana, winding through rainforests and cliff views and opportunities to get out and hike. (Just remember to start early, as it is a popular option also to do this as a tour, and the roads can be busy. Also, there are not many food stops, so take snacks – or if you see a local roadside selling homemade coconut cake, do stop!)

Come to the Big Island to helicopter over Kilauea Volcano. Even if you do not see live lava, the landscape from an aerial view is such a contrast. Take the trip out of Hilo airport and do an Island Circle flight to see the lava tubes of previous eruptions contrasting with green foliage trying to renew itself. You will see man-made structures, dramatic cliff coastlines and storey-high waterfalls. Stay in Kona, for fresh fish tacos, long island ice-teas, sunsets and a manta-ray night snorkel. (This island has 4 out of the 5 major climates depending where you are on the island, so be prepared. Also remember, most beaches will have black or dark sand.)

This leaves Kauai for more nature and soft adventure inspired experiences, Lanai which offers a smaller, more luxurious stay ( great for golfers) and Molokai, which we think is reflective of true Hawaiin culture.

Insider Tip: Many of the more popular restaurants in Waikiki get very busy after 5.00pm, so you may have to wait in line and sometimes up to 2 hours. Try to get there before the crowd – and this usually means you may also be able to take advantage of Happy Hour prices. Also, check your travel dates for Public Holidays – always great savings for those who love to shop.
